405. The Destruction and Removal of Sin

Condemnation is a burdensome thing. It may be self-inflicted or it can come from the self-righteous judgment of others. Adam's action brought condemnation. But Jesus' action at the cross brought justification. The act of His sacrifice brought something to us that our world had never experienced... The removal of sin. It was destroyed. Through His blood we not only received eternal forgiveness but sin was taken away once and for all. If you've ever felt guilt because of things you've done wrong, we've got good news for you.

  2. I would say it's pretty simple. All sins have been forgiven except the one that Jesus said wouldn't be forgiven.

  3. Joel forgive me for so many questions. I understand if a person did what they did in this scripture, there is no forgiveness & if a person doesn't believe before they die can't be forgiven. This is what I've been taught. So my understanding all sins are not forgiven. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not debating, just want to get understanding. Thank you for your reply. I appreciate your site.

  4. All sins are forgiven, what Christ has done,He has done for it all.
God was in Christ Jesus reconcilling the world to himself.
Under the old covenant, you had to forgive before God can.
New covenant is God forgives period. According to Colossians.

  5. Yeah, I believe all sins have been forgiven through the finished work of Jesus (except the one that Jesus said would not be forgiven - see below). If a person doesn't believe before they die, they have already been forgiven of all sins, but they haven't received it by faith. They die as someone who has been forgiven through what Jesus did, but without having received His life. That's the difference right there. Being forgiven isn't the same as being born again as a new creation... born again into new life.

The sin that won't be forgiven... blasphemy against the Holy Spirit... is made a little more clear in the Mark 3 account of this same story. Jesus has just cast out a demon from a man, and the scribes are accusing Him of casting out demons by Beelzebub.

Jesus responds to them by saying that a house divided against itself cannot stand, etc. He says a strong man's house can't be plundered unless the strong man is first bound. In other words, it's a silly notion to say that Satan can cast out Satan.

Jesus then leads into His talk about the unforgivable sin.

    Mark 3:28-30
"Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation" — because they said, 'He has an unclean spirit.'"

They are saying that the spirit that Jesus has is UNCLEAN. They are blaspheming (speaking evil of) the Holy Spirit. And to that effect, they are unbelievers.

  6. The beauty of all this is that while we can hear and see what people say and do, we really don't have a clue what's really going on in their hearts. Only God does. We're not the ones who can discern the hearts of others, and what goes on inside them. :)

    2. I think grace conferences are wonderful, and I also think it's great that you do your own research. The scriptures give us a great picture about forgiveness, reconciliation, salvation, justification, new life, etc, and we can find the answers to our doctrinal questions through searching the scriptures, and through sharing thoughts and questions with one another.
