710. Born Identity: We Are Heirs

An inheritance is not received by one’s commitment. It is not something that has been earned by working for it. It’s gifted. It’s not based upon law, but upon promise.

In order for a will (or covenant) to take effect, there has to be the death of the one who made it. Jesus died in order for us to receive an eternal inheritance, with an unbreakable seal - the Holy Spirit of promise.

693. Children of Inheritance - Not Slaves Under the Law

Continuing on our current thread that "the law is not of faith." The Apostle Paul continues to explain and reveal the significant differences between law and faith in Galatians Chapter 4. Those who had formerly been under the law of Moses were described as slaves held in bondage. Jesus was born of a woman under that same system of law in order to redeem those who were under the law. This would result in the slaves becoming children... heirs of the promise. Paul would continue to show that most people who want to live by the law have no idea what the law says and requires (they had the impossible task of doing all of it). The child of slavery came through Hagar, symbolizing the Old Covenant at Mt. Sinai where the law was given - it gave birth to spiritual bondage. But the child of promise came through Sarah, symbolizing the freedom of grace and faith found in the New Covenant. Both Jew and Gentile believers are now children of the free woman.

469. Prodigal Part 3: Gentiles Welcome in the House

Continuing with our look at the Prodigal/Lost Son parable, we find some interesting things that Jesus shared in the chapters leading up to this. He gave examples of how Israel would turn down the invitation to come to the heavenly dinner table in the house of God. This would lead to the Lord extending a welcome to those who had been far away in all other directions (Gentiles). Even the older Jewish son declined to join the celebration when the younger Gentile son had become a part of the family. God demonstrated His love by pursuing us when we were lost and without hope.

467. Just Who Is the Prodigal Son (and His Brother)?

Many different perspectives have been provided about the parable of The Lost (Prodigal) son. Usually the focus is on the young son who left and and rebelled, sowed his wild oats and then decided he would repent and come back home to serve his father. Most interpretations will agree the father represents God in this parable. So why does the story mention just two sons when there are so many in all of creation? This is a question that needs to be asked, and the revelation of who these two sons represent gives the answer to a mystery the Apostle Paul said had been hidden for generations. Most of us have missed the hidden meaning in the parable. This is Part 1.
