879. God Is Just a Prayer Away? (It’s Even Better Than That)

The world system where we now live is a mess. It hasn’t been fully redeemed. Bad things happen and physical death still occurs, but it doesn’t change how good God truly is at all times. Yet there are times when we may feel like God is millions of miles away in a far off galaxy. We wonder if He is aware of what we’re going through or why we’re going through it.

It has been said that “God is just a prayer away.” This sounds encouraging on the surface, but on this week’s program, we’ll be taking it a step further to bring a reminder that the gospel provides even better news. Prayer or communion and fellowship with God doesn’t have to be like a type of long-distance phone call where you say good-bye (amen) at the end and hang up until the next time you dial the number. Hopefully we can help bring a new and fresh reality of just how connected you are to God in Christ … all the time. He created the original wireless—no password required.

718. The Holy Spirit in You

Following up on last week’s program about feeling the need to ask God’s Spirit to show up or inviting God’s presence into our midst …

This practice misses the understanding that He never leaves as He continuously abides in us. This is different than the Old Covenant. Under the New Covenant, the Spirit may manifest with special gifts as He wills through an anointing that already abides in us.

But there is nothing we can do to create an atmosphere that is more inviting in order to get God to respond with an RSVP to our invitation—because it’s not about what we do … He has chosen to be with us and in us by grace.

717. Requesting the Holy Spirit to Show Up

It’s commonplace within a gathering of believers to invite God into our presence or seek some sort of special visitation from His Spirit. As we gain a more complete knowledge of the truth, we discover there is good news on this subject: He never leaves us! He doesn’t depart, withdraw or spontaneously come and go.

In fact, we were invited into His presence and He is there to comfort and bear witness of Jesus in whom we abide. He began a good work in us and He will be faithful to complete it.
