348. Renewing the Mind

Sometimes it's easy to confuse spiritual things with emotional. The spiritual truths of what God has given us needs to be separated from issues of the soul which makes up the mind, will and emotions.

The new life and freedom we have in Christ is a reality that came quickly and already belongs to us. It's a part of who we are in our spirit. We grow in the knowledge of these things by having our minds renewed to the truth and this is an ongoing process.

Freedom. A word that dominates our Bible, but do we understand what it means for us in relation to our life in Christ? We have been freed from many things because of what Jesus did. This freedom in Him is permanent, eternal. You weren't released from prison to be out on parole. We are free indeed. But it isn't only about what we've been freed from but what we've also been freed into.

The Bible states that Jesus came to take away sin and destroy the works of the devil. So did Jesus accomplish His mission or is this an ongoing work that is not yet completed?
