374. Truth by Itself Will Not Set You Free

Truth by itself will not bring freedom into our lives. In John chapter 8 Jesus stated it would be the knowledge of the truth that would make us free. This is why He told us to go and spread the good news, so people could know about it and begin to understand it and experience it. So what exactly does freedom mean and what is it we have been freed from? Our discussion this week reveals some exciting things about our freedom.

  1. I have to admit, when I first aw the title, I was like WHATT. Hahaha. I am glad that I heard it, it was enlightening. I love how you mentioned how most preachers focus on the act of not sinning, not on the fact that sin has been taken away.

I hear many say "Your sin has separated you from God." Not anymore, Jesus paid the debt! That is the truth that will set you free in your own grace walk.

  2. That's a truth that I wish every believer would know and understand, as I know it would truly set them free if they understood and believed that their sinful acts do not separate them from God. Indeed, Jesus paid the debt in full and our sins have been taken away, and we can walk freely with Him, liberated from the bondage of feeling separated from Him and cast away from Him.

  3. Please brothers and sisters keep in mind not to take advantage this truth we are totrust God to actualloy take away our sin. Those that are God does

    Hebrews 2

    New International Version (NIV)

    Warning to Pay Attention

2 We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. 2 For since the message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, 3 how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. 4 God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.
Ignoiring this great salvation is saying to oneself I can just carry on with my sin God already seperated sin and death so I cancheat, steal, lie and so on. Brothers and Sisters this would be taking advantage of grace as the Corinthians did and why Paulwrote them 1 Corinthians letter to straighten out their stinking thinking Paul was looking for them to have a Godly sorrow instead of a worldly one and he acknowledged they finally did have this in 2 Cor 7. It is not that we have to stop sin it is that we by God come tothe belief that Goid has through the cross stopped sin so that God can give new life to you the believer where today you are re-raised in the Spirit of God instead of the flesh
Joel I love what Kap and you have to say about the gospel being all God and none of us.
I am finally back, went through hell from 11=12 through 1-13, was hospitalized for 3 weeks had major surgeries, learned a lot from God, today I understand the verse work out your own salvation with fear and trembling

    Philippians 2:11-13

    New International Version (NIV)

11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

    Do Everything Without Grumbling

12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,
13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

  4. Howard! I'm glad you're back. A few weeks ago I looked at your blog and saw that you hadn't posted anything since Nov. 4, so I was wondering if something was up. I'm sorry to hear what you've had to go through. Glad you're back and posting again, and I hope you stay well.

  5. Thanks Joel, much appreciated, I now live in Utah West Haven I am starting over here and am glad to be back posting. Be glad for me and what I had to go through, I tell you and anyone the truth, God has got a plan and it is up to me to praise God no matter what is going on good or bad, remember Job, and God took care of him, and Job would not deny God. I do not know how God will take care of me but I know God will and has to this day. In all things that happen here on earth it is for me to look behind the cloud in the Spirit and trust God that all things work towards the good, that no weapon formed against me shall ever prosper, and he that is in me is greater than he that is in the world. Faith is belief beyond a shadow of a doubt, same as the woman in Mark that said all I have to do is touch his garment and I will be healed and she was heald when she did what she knew to do. And I know God just love me, you and the entire world, waiting for the adoption of his Son to take effect in all that come to belief. And I have posted a bunch more on the blogger being after to seperate flesh and Spirit in order for all to know God as the only one that truly loves them. then that one's love that they received from God flows out to all that they meet here in this world
